this is just a little scene i made up not from canon. but i imagine duskpaw and hawkpaw were close. he never wanted to forget his silliest littermate. as a fellow dead brother haver, i feel his pain.

does this resonate emotionally with anyone else? I feel like hawkwing losing duskpaw and that becoming literally all he can think about for a whole year is very realistic. of course all he can do is blame himself. grief is just love with nowhere to go. and sometimes it inverts and directs inwards. i think hawkwing going from being a generic angry little shit guy to a really dependable deputy and a good foster dad is a really beautiful arc.
